Victorian School Teachers Agreement

After-school child care workers will also be interested in the increases when they negotiate their own enterprise contract and will not benefit from the new softened agreement. Victoria`s oldest early childhood teachers will earn more than school teachers under a new wage deal reached on Thursday between the state government and the education union. Minister Ingrid Stitt said the new convention, which will include more than 900 kindergartens, 44 long daycares and 22 municipal administrative services, would be part of a concerted effort to invest in early childhood educators and educators. The ministry is entering into negotiations for a new enterprise agreement covering nurses in the Primary and Secondary Program under the 2016 Department of Education and Training. In addition to the above increases, the classification structure for Divisions 1 and 2 is changed. This involves removing the lower subdivision in each of these areas and additional subdivision at the head of each zone. It offers 1-5s existing and 2-5s another increase to provide higher pay results in the first twelve months of the agreement. For the current 1-5s, the total growth of the first twelve months will be 6.71%. For the current 2-5s, it will be 6.46%. In addition, current 1-1 and 2-1 employees will translate into the new 1-1 and 2-1 when translated into the new scale and receive an additional salary increase at the master rate. Wage parity between some early childhood teachers and schools was originally defined in the 2016 Enterprise Agreement. Teachers then preceded their new agreement in 2017, which could be repeated if they reach a new agreement that is expected to be reached in the middle of next year. A new classification of the « learning specialist » will also be created.

From 2018, 3,000 of these support organizations will be funded at the same level as leading teachers. Teachers who are promoted in these classes are recognized for their excellent teaching practice and for the support they provide to other teachers. The Andrews government hopes the new business start-up agreement will make early childhood work more attractive to teachers and educators, as it will nearly double the number of employees to 13,000 by 2029, in line with its $5 billion plan to extend all three Victorian children by 15 hours free of charge. Initial increase of $54.51 (18.59%) July 1, 2017 to take the daily rate from $293.30 to $347.81. At the end of the agreement, TRC members receive 383.13 $US for each working day. Heidi Ratje, 31, has been working as a children`s teacher in Melbourne for 10 years and said the pay rises would help stop a consistent trend that young teachers had early childhood support for guaranteed full-time work in primary schools. Justin Mullaly, vice-president of the Australian Education Union in Victoria, said the agreement was a cornerstone of the government`s free three-year education in an area traditionally neglected by many future teachers. However, the Victorian government stated that it was not in a position to describe precisely the cost to taxpayers during the four-year agreement, as final details were still outstanding.
